Learning to coadd grism data

Posted by Don on July 15, 2008 in documentation, spectral

Tom sent me a file outlining the steps for producing coadded grism data. I’m hoping I can ascend the learning curve and begin coadding on my own. I have also reorganized and updated the Documentation page.

garm ingesting

Posted by Don on April 4, 2008 in garm

After figuring out that the crontab that works is in /etc, I set garm to start re-ingesting. Now we wait and see how long it will take. In the mean time I need to accomplish the following:

prepare the SQL query to find new variables

EA Documentation

Posted by Don on January 31, 2008 in calibration, spectral

I’ve set up a page for documenting the latest Effective Area Curve calculation:
http://spartan.srl.caltech.edu/~neill/GALEX/SpecCal/EAlatest/
Currently, this is the calculation of 14-Jan-2008 using 36 observations of HZ21.  As new calculations are done this page will be updated to point at the latest version.  I still need to add a comparison between the old and the new EA curves.

Latest EA file from HZ21

Posted by Don on January 14, 2008 in calibration, spectral

Tom installed new grism processing routines that use the latest spectroscopic flat and made them accessible through ‘newcfg cmdev’. I used these to re-process the HZ21 patterns A and B data. These were then used to derive an average equivalent area curve, which is installed on the HZ21 results page here. This […]

LB227 Done

Posted by Don on November 29, 2007 in calibration, spectral, varpix

The results for the STIS comparisons can be found here.  Using the new EA curve generated with HZ21 improves things, but there are dropouts caused by VARPIX masking.  This will be turned off and I will re-process the data and update the plots.
The conclusion is that LB227 is too faint to be useful for analyzing […]
